THE Paddy Cole All-Stars have been doing charity concerts for the Friends of St Luke's Hospital, Dublin, for 10 years, with the latest scheduled for the National Concert Hall on Tuesday at 8pm.

Wilde keeps big band flag flying high

The fragile flag of big band music is being kept flying by talented Dublin multi-instrumentalist Ciaran Wilde, whose Bigband Tivoli Concerts every Sunday night are attracting big audiences. There's live music from 9pm to 11.30pm with a swing dance class from 8pm to 9pm. The Tivoli Theatre is in Francis Street, Dublin 8. Telephone 01 4544472.

Teenagers rescued on Lugnaquillia

Two German teenagers had to be rescued on Wicklow's Lugnaquillia Mountain early yesterday after they lost their way when returning from the summit.

The rescue services responded quickly to their calls for assistance. The teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were found after a four-hour search. A spokesperson for the rescue team said that the boys were "cold but in good spirits".
