HSE CHIEF Cathal Magee told staff yesterday that they must not become distracted by the radical overhaul of the organisation planned by Health Minister James Reilly.
Mr Magee now faces uncertainty about his role in the overhaul.
In a Christmas letter to staff he said: "These are challenging times in our health and social care services. The continued delivery of safe and quality services to patients and clients is dependent, more than ever, on the professionalism and extra commitment of staff.
The HSE will be working with the Department of Health in order to plan the implementation of these structural changes, he added.
