Over four million cigarettes with value of €2.1m seized after truck stopped on M1

OVER four million cigarettes have been seized by Revenue officers.
As a result of an intelligence-led operatio , officers yesterday seized 4.1m cigarettes with a retail value of over €2.1m from a container intercepted on the M1 motorway.
The container, which had travelled from Bangladesh via Singapore and Rotterdam, arrived into the Dublin Port on Saturday .
The 'Wilson' and 'Shahara' cigarettes, were described on the manifest as 'black tea'.
Investigations into this importation are continuing.
This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes.
