Over €1m worth of cannabis seized in garda raid

GARDAI have made a massive seizure of cannabis during a raid in Co Wicklow.

Officers from the Garda National Drugs Unit (GNDU) based at Dublin Castle searched two houses  in Newtownmountkennedy, Co Wicklow yesterday and discovered  51 kilos of cannabis herb with an approximate street value of €1.02m.

Two men, one aged 61 and the other 36, were arrested and are currently detained at Bray Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Separately, officers have arrested a man after seizing €20,000 worth of cocaine in Co Cork.

As a result of an ongoing  operation targetting the sale and supply of Cocaine on the northside of Cork city, Gardai from the Cork City Divisional Drug Unit stopped and searched a car in Blackpool yesterday evening.

During the search of the car Gardai discovered cocaine with and estimated street value of €20,000.

A 24-year-old man was arrested and is being detained under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act 1996 at Gurranabraher Garda station.
