Outbreak of vomiting bug

ONE of the hospitals suffering severe overcrowding in its A&E department has now been hit by an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.

Limerick Regional Hospital has had to put in place visiting restrictions because of an outbreak of the contagious virus.

There are five confirmed cases and six suspected cases in the hospital and strict infection control procedures are in place.

Visiting the paediatric unit is strictly for parents and guardians only, and children under 14 should not visit the hospital at all.

Outpatient services are not affected but patients will be asked to produce their appointment cards to be checked by security.
