SEAN O'Rourke will meet his new Radio One team for the first time tomorrow as preparations get under way for the broadcaster's new show.
Discussions on the format for the mid-morning programme under Pat Kenny's successor have already begun and former 'News at One' host O'Rourke, below, is expected to sit down with his colleagues for an informal production meeting tomorrow afternoon.
Jim Jennings, acting managing director of RTE Radio, met with the team of four producers, two senior researchers, two reporters and a broadcast co-ordinator yesterday.
A source also said that Kevin Bakhurst, head of news and current affairs, is in full support of the programme making use of newsroom resources, as RTE prepares to go head-to-head with 65-year-old Kenny's show.
"RTE is ready to fight back," said a source. "Sean is a first-rate journalist and he'll be working with a team that are at the top of their game professionally so there is total confidence going forward."
