Opinion poll shows major rise in Government support

The Government has received a welcome Christmas opinion poll boost, seeing an 11 per cent rise in support.

The poll in today's Sunday Times shows support for the Government at 35 per cent with every party leader other than Gerry Adams seeing their personal rating increased. SF leader Gerry Adams is down eight, at 33 per cent.

Dissatisfaction with the Government is at 59 per cent. Excluding undecided voters, the individual parties show Fine Gael at 30 per cent, up five per cent. Fianna Fail is at 21 per cent and Labour on 11 per cent (both unchanged). Sinn Fein on 15 per cent is down three percentage points.
