Operation Vulcan: Gardai mount 35 searches and arrest seven in Dublin

A MAJOR garda operation to combat organised crime was mounted in Dublin today. A total of 35 planned searches of businesses and homes took place resulting in seven arrests. A small quantity of cannabis and cocaine was seized as well as extensive documents relating to properties and businesses.

The searches were part of an ongoing operation targeting organised crime activity, including drug trafficking, firearms offences and money laundering.

A 30 year old woman is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Crumlin Garda Station.

A 21 year old man is detained at Ballyfermot Garda under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Three male aged 30, 17 and 21 years are detained under Section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act 1939 at Clondalkin Garda Station.

Two males aged 33 and 22 years were detained at Bridewell Garda Station on foot of outstanding warrants.

Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit in co-operation with local Drugs Units, the Criminal Assets Bureau and other units from Garda National Support Services were all involved.
