Operation 'Open City' to keep traffic flowing in Dublin over Christmas

THE Gardai have today commenced Operation 'Open City' to keep traffic flowing in the Dublin region over the Christmas period.

The operation will be run throughout the Dublin Region until Tuesday 24th December.

The aim of the operation is to facilitate the movement of Public Transport and minimise traffic disruption to the general public.

The operation follows consultation between An Garda Síochána and key stakeholders (the National Transport Authority, Local Authorities, Transport Providers and the Business Community) and will play a key role in the effective management of traffic during the Christmas period.

The operation will see high visibility enforcement operation, with officers patrolling all major arterial routes and link roads during core commuter hours.

There will also be particular focus on traffic management issues around car parks and major shopping centres.
