GARDAI in Cork have arrested three men and two women as part of an ongoing investigation into fraudulent motor insurance claims.
Gardai made the arrests in Co Cork this morning as part of Operation Nascar, which looks into fraudulent claims.
Members of the organised crime and the fraud investigation units, attached to Anglesea Street Garda Station in Cork city, as well as local detectives were involved in the operation.
The individuals, who range in age from their 20s to their 40s, were brought to a number of stations in County Cork where they are currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
They can be held for up to 24 hours.
The arrests bring to 17 the number of people who have been arrested as part of Operation Nascar.
