STRONG gusts in Co. Kerry have left motorists confused as this sign post has twirled around and is providing road users with conflicting speeding limits.
The road running alongside Kerry airport in Farranfore should only be driven at 60 km/h but a sign on the opposite side has spun around and is displaying a speeding limit of 100 km/h.
‘‘The wind has no doubt made the sign on the opposite side of the road twist around and we will get our road guys to use their trusty spanners and swirl it back around,’’ said Padraig Corkery of Kerry County Council.
‘‘The speeding limits differ as you’re leaving and entering the area and so the 100 km/h speed should be in the opposite direction,’’ he said.
Motorists shouldn’t take advantage of the weather mishap and should stick to the driving limit of 60 km/h.
The county is braced for more turbulent winds as storm-like conditions are set to return this evening in the west.
