THE On Line Claims System (OLCS) was introduced almost five years ago to make the payment system for substitute teachers more efficient and to cut costs.
The web-based system is used by all primary, secondary and community schools to record when a teacher is absent and for organising payment from the Department of Education for a substitute.
The information is automatically transferred to the department's payroll database, making postage savings of an estimated €500,000 a year.
The OLCS is password protected.
