SINGERS from 21 nations have arrived in Dublin to compete for a €10,000 prize in an opera-singing competition.
The National Concert Hall is hosting the sixth annual Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition.
The 65 singers met yesterday for the first time as they prepared to battle through a week of heats which start today.
The contestants will be whittled down for the grand finale, which will take place at the main auditorium next Tuesday.
The event was founded by Ireland's leading vocal coach, Dr Veronica Dunne, and the competitors will be led by the baton of Laurent Wagner.
Tickets for the preliminary rounds cost €5 and for the finale they range from €12 to €25.
