One in three now fear losing their home
MORTGAGE difficulties are leaving one in three people concerned about becoming homeless.
People's concern about meeting their rent or house repayments has risen dramatically over the past two years -- up from 24pc in late 2010 to 35pc last April, according to a study by the Simon Community charity.
"People have become more vulnerable during the recession because of job losses, housing pressures and increased levels of poverty," Niamh Randall, a charity spokeswoman said.
Ms Randall called on people as part of Simon Week, running from today until October 7, to write to their local TD about increasing the social housing stock or to volunteer to help with services such as soup runs.
