On-duty garda hospitalised after his motorbike collided with car

An on-duty garda has been hospitalised after the motorbike he was driving was involved in a collision with a car.

The incident happened on Churchtown Road Upper, Dublin, beside the entrance to Notre Dame School, at around 3.00pm today.

Debris from the crash could be seen strewn across the road.

The front of them car was badly damaged in the accident.

A baby seat was taken out of the car and left on the footpath as the area was cleared.

The 2016-registered Nissan Qashqai and the Garda bike were taken from the scene at around 4pm.

The male garda motorcyclist was taken to St Vincent's Hospital. His injuries were described as non-life threatening.

The driver of the car was un-injured and there were no reports of other injuries in the crash.

Gardai from Dundrum have launched an investigation into the incident.
