Money may be tight but there's no shortage of romance, it seems.
According to a new survey, over half of us will spend up to €50 on Valentine's Day gifts this year while almost one-third will splash €50 to €150.
Of the 2,572 people asked, 73pc said they would like a surprise from their loved one. A third of people said they thought men should spend more than women on a gift.
When asked what is the best gift they have received, respondents reported mini-breaks to Paris, romantic proposals, diamond rings and bouquets of flowers.
The survey by One4all also found that singletons won't be moping about in their pyjamas come February 14. Some 16pc of single people said they will be hitting the town with a group of friends.
