O'Dea still wonders why he had to leave Cabinet
Willie O'Dea is still trying to figure out why he had to resign from the Cabinet.
The former defence minister was forced to resign six weeks ago after he swore a false oath that he didn't spread rumours about a Sinn Fein councillor being involved in the operation of a brothel.
After being given a clear vote of confidence by the government parties, the Green Party had a rethink 24 hours later and prompted his resignation.
Mr O'Dea said yesterday he would love to serve as a minister again and it was a "great honour to be at the Cabinet".
The Limerick East TD said he was approached by people in the street in Dublin who recognised him asking why exactly he had to resign.
"I said, 'I'm still trying to figure it out myself quite frankly', but in due course all will be revealed.
"Maybe some day we'll all understand it," he said on Newstalk's 'Lunchtime with Eamon Keane'.
