O'Brien seeks access to Dropbox account

Businessman Denis O'Brien has brought an application aimed at accessing documents held in the Dropbox account of an employee of Red Flag Consulting, the High Court has heard.
Mr Justice Colm MacEochaidh was told that discussions between lawyers for Mr O'Brien and California-based Dropbox Inc (an internet file-hosting service) concerning access to material in the Dropbox facility of a Red Flag employee had failed to reach agreement on discovery.
Following failure to reach agreement with Dropbox, Mr O'Brien wanted permission to bring an application seeking non-party discovery against Dropbox Inc and Dropbox Ireland. The judge granted permission to issue that application and returned the matter to next week.
Mr O'Brien is seeking a range of material for his action alleging defamation against Red Flag and some of its executives and employees.
