Notorious drug dealer due in court
ONE of the country's biggest drug dealers will be brought before court today after being arrested last night.
The 40-year-old man is the main supplier of narcotics to Limerick and the wider mid-west region.
He is one of the few senior members of the feared McCarthy-Dundon gang who is not behind bars and has recently been under close surveillance by officers in the city.
He will be brought before Limerick District Court, where he will be charged in connection with a seizure of heroin, worth an estimated €145,000, in Moyross last October.
The cache was found on the grounds of Delmege House on the north side of the city.
This particular individual has been at the centre of several garda investigations which have focused on the city's criminal gangs and ongoing feuds in recent years.
He is closely aligned to the Ryan brothers, Kieran and Eddie, who got lengthy jail terms last July for the possession of a handgun.
Previously, he has come under attack from the Keane criminal gang and narrowly escaped death when an assailant with an AK-47 opened fire on him several years ago.
