Nothing compares to Revenue: Sinead on tax list

Sinead O'Connor has made a €160,000 settlement with the Revenue Commissioners.

The singer made the payment as part of the latest swoop by the taxman to detect defaulters in the three months to the end of June.

The total paid by the 'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer, included €90,543 of tax; €42,600 in interest; and €27,162 in penalties. The payment was for the under-declaration of PRSI and PAYE.

Ms O'Connor, whose address is listed as Bray, Co Wicklow, could not be reached for comment by the Irish Independent.

The commissioners have netted a total of €17.4m in the latest tax haul.

It included settlements made by publicans, doctors, farmers, and even an aircraft painting firm, as well as a food business based in Switzerland.
