Northern Trust makes 220 redundant in Dublin office

The Dublin branch of American finance company Northern Trust is to make 220 staff redundant.
Of those affected, 80 will be offered the opportunity to transfer to the fund administration operation of the company in Limerick.
Staff were called to a meeting this morning at which plans to eliminate duplicate roles arising from the recent acquisition of Bank of Ireland Securities Services (BOISS) were announced.
Northern Trust provides investment management, asset and fund administration, fiduciary and banking services throughout North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
It currently employs 950 in Ireland and has been in the country since 1990.
