North West scoops another lotto windfall as lucky punter wins €8m

There were champagne corks popping in the North West last night as at least one lucky punter won more than €8 million in Saturday’s National Lottery draw.

The winning numbers were 2, 8, 16, 24, 33 and 42, bonus ball 47, and the total jackpot amounts to €8,244,501.

There were no winners of the Lotto Plus 1 or Lotto Plus 2 top prize.

The second lotto windfall for the region, following January’s €13.8m win for a Mayo family, it is still unclear who Ireland’s latest millionaire is.

A spokesperson for the National Lottery said no one had yet come forward to claim the €8,244,501 prize.

Wednesday's jackpot will likely be in excess for €2m, they added.

Elsewhere, Ireland’s latest EuroMillions winner can now collect their colossal €66million jackpot after the National Lottery received the last of the money from their European counterparts.

There were two winners of the €132million jackpot – one based in Ireland, the other in France.
