Finance Minister Michael Noonan dug deep into his wallet and fished out a crisp €50 note to prove he has faith in Helen McEntee winning the Meath East by-election.
The minister, pictured above with the Fine Gael candidate, placed the bet at Tom Flood's bookmakers in Ratoath at 4/7 odds that Helen would take her late father Shane's seat.
While canvassing, the minister had a Q&A session with local business and home owners to discuss the Government's new mortgage arrears strategy and the challenges currently facing small businesses. Laura Hutton/Photocall Ireland
