No stranger to overseas aid
BARRY Andrews, pictured, is from a political dynasty familiar with the work of overseas aid agencies.
His father David Andrews was Foreign Minister and regularly travelled to inspect overseas aid projects.
His late uncle Niall Andrews was a former Fianna Fail TD who went to the Philippines in the 1980s to campaign for the release of an Irish missionary priest on trumped-up murder charges. His cousin, former Fianna Fail TD Chris Andrews, has also worked in developing countries.
He got elected to the Dail at his first attempt in his father's old constituency of Dun Laoghaire in 2002 and was re-elected in 2007. But he was one of the casualties in the FF wipeout in last year's general election.
