DAFFODIL day has been spared the torrential downpours that decimated fundraising last year – though volunteers have been advised to pack a raincoat just in case of showers.
Last year's Daffodil Day event for the Irish Cancer Society was impacted by stormy conditions that caused donations to fall by 50pc compared with the €3.2m the previous year.
Met Eireann forecaster Evelyn Cusack said today's weather will be a "big improvement" on last year which was "a complete washout".
