THE inclement St Patrick's Day weather was not confined to Ireland. The rain also poured down in Milan, but it couldn't take away from an amazing celebration as Ireland won the Six Nations Rugby Grand Slam.
It was the first Grand Slam win for Ireland's team of brave and determined women, which, captained by school teacher Fiona Coghlan, battled in the mud to win by six points to three.
"Hopefully this means more people will sit up and take notice of our sport," Ms Coghlan said.
That seems likely, as the team earned plaudits from figures as diverse as President Michael D Higgins and Niall Horan of One Direction. Our picture, by Matt Browne, shows team-mates Lynne Cantwell and Joy Neville celebrating after the win.
