Nine year jail sentence for €440k drug possession
A Dublin man who was found with over €444,000 worth of cocaine, cannabis and ecstasy has been jailed for nine and a half years.
Christopher Seery (34) of Ratoath Avenue pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to possession of the drugs for sale or supply at his home on March 9, 2012.
Garda Sergeant Shane McCartan told Michael Bowman BL, prosecuting, that during a search of the house, gardai also found a weighing scales and €144,420 in cash.
He said that the estimated street value of the drugs seized was €84,000 worth of cocaine, €348,000 cannabis resin and €12,600 in ecstasy tablets.
The cash seized was confiscated after the conviction and the court heard that there will also be an inquiry into bank accounts associated with Seery.
Judge Martin Nolan jailed him for nine and a half years.
Sergeant McCartan said that most of the drugs seized were in the attic of the house.
Seery said the drugs were his but gardai believe Seery was storing them for someone else who he wouldn’t name.
