Gerry Adams was looking a little shady as he recovered from an eye operation.

The Sinn Fein president was wearing dark glasses to keep the sun out of his sensitive eyes.

Mr Adams had an operation for entropia, a painful condition where the eyelids turn in and irritate the cornea.

Tom Burke's picture shows Mr Adams arriving at Leinster House.
