The former Westlife star has been nominated individually for Best Newcomer and his 2fm programme, which he co-hosts with Jenny Greene in the mid-morning slot, is also up for Best Music Programme.

"I'm beyond chuffed with the two nominations for the show.

"It's a very exciting time in 2fm," he said.

Fake taxi man fined

A DUBLIN man, who has never had a full driver's licence, has been spared a jail sentence for fraudulently operating a taxi using forged documentation.

David Slight (49) from Pinebrook Vale, Huntstown, was fined €250 and given a two-year road ban after he pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court to offences under the Road Traffic Act and the Theft and Fraud Act.

He admitted he did not have a driver's licence or motor insurance, and that he made a false declaration to an insurance company after he was caught picking up fares on Main Street in Swords, north Dublin, on July 22 2012.
