Young man dies two months after horror road crash
A young man has died from injuries suffered in a road accident two months ago.
The man, named locally as Ryan Doyle from Ballinamore, Co Leitrim, was a passenger in a car which was involved in a serious road accident last September 17.
There were four people in the car at the time and they were travelling from Ballinamore when the vehicle struck a tree.
Mr Doyle was seriously injured in the collision and taken to hospital in Dublin where he remained until his death on Tuesday.
Gardai are investigating the accident.
A spokesperson said: "The collision occurred at Drumreilly, Ballinamore at approximately 10.45pm on the 17th September 2016.
"Four occupants in the car. The car collided with a tree and then crashed through a concrete fence. One of the rear passengers was seriously injured he subsequently died."
Mr Doyle will be buried after funeral mass on Friday in Edenderry, Co Offaly.
Ballinamore Community School Principal Padraig Leyden paid tribute to Ryan in the Leitrim Observer.
"He (Ryan) was a lovely young man, he got on well with everyone; with his teachers and his peers. He was popular with everyone and our sympathies go out to his family at this sad time."
