Young girl (8) killed in two car crash in west Cork

An eight year old girl has died and another person is seriously injured following a two-car collision in west Cork.

The incident occurred at Owenahincha Cross, Rosscarbery near Clonkilty in Co. Cork at around 3pm.

The child’s body has been removed to Cork University Hospital.

A second female passenger (early 30s) has also been removed to Cork University Hospital with critical injuries and is receiving treatment.

The driver of the car and three other passengers received minor injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of the other car, aged 17 years, is being treated for minor injuries.

The road remains closed off as gardai and forensic collision investigators examine the scene. Diversions are now in place.
