Woman (70s) fighting for life after being thrown 'into the air' by tractor

An elderly woman is fighting for her life in Wexford General Hospital this evening after being struck by a tractor.

The incident occurred on the N11 at Abbey Quay, Enniscorthy at 1.55pm near the town’s promenade area on the banks of the river Slaney.

An eyewitness has said the woman was thrown "into the air" as she tried to cross the busy stretch of road.

The woman, who is in her 70s, was rushed to Wexford General Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Gardai say the incident is currently under investigation.
