HEROIN worth an estimated €150,000 was seized in a garda operation in Dublin last night.

Officers from Clondalkin Garda Station raided a house in Ballyfermot discovering the haul of the highly addictive drug.

A woman in her 50s was arrested at the scene and was quizzed by detectives overnight.

She is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

The suspect can be detained for up to seven days.

Gardai estimate that the heroin seized has a street value of €150,000 pending analysis.

A Garda spokesman said: “These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.

“Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities.”

He added: “Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.”
