Woman (45) arrested following late-night stabbing of man found on street

A woman has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a man found on a street in Belfast early today.

The 57-year-old victim was discovered wounded in the Conway Street area in the north of the city just after 2:50am. He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators believe the man may have been stabbed at a house in the Wilton Street area.

A 45-year-old woman was later arrested in connection with the stabbing and is helping police with their inquiries. Detective Sergeant Andrew Madden has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

"I would ask anyone who saw this man in the Wilton Street and Conway Street areas, or who knows anything about this incident, to contact CID at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101," he said.

"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
