Incredible footage has emerged of a young man scaling Poolbeg Towers, with no safety harness.

The dizzying video posted on YouTube channel OJ Adventures, shows the youth gaining access to the Poolbeg site by climbing around a rusty security fence along the water’s edge.

He subsequently scales one of the towers, climbing up the ladder to a small landing platform near the top of the historic structure.

However, the self-proclaimed “casual daredevil” does not stop there and instead climbs to the very top of the landmark chimney.

He films himself using a selfie-stick as he walks around the unprotected perimeter of the chimney, with views of Dublin behind him.

At the end of the video he sits with his legs dangling over the edge of the 270m tower.

Similar videos shared by the youth's channel show the two-person team climbing chimneys in Budapest and other Denmark, among other dangerous activities.

A spokeswoman for the ESB, which is responsible for the defunct towers, confirmed that the matter had been reported to gardai and the ESB had also carried out an investigation.

Security has since been upgraded on the site, which is also guarded by security guards as there is a working power station on the site.

The youth was a visitor to Ireland and the ESB has urged against copy cat stunts which could put lives at risk.
