A BOY has been killed in a tragic road accident in Tipperary.

The two-year-old was knocked down by a van on Rosanna Road, Tipperary Town shortly before 8pm last night.

“Gardai from Tipperary Town  were alerted and administered CPR,” a garda spokesman said. 

“An ambulance arrived on scene and the injured boy was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital Accident and Emergency Department at Clonmel.

“He was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.”

It is understood the youngster was a member of the Travelling community.

The two men in the van were uninjured.

The road has been closed for a Forensic collision examination.
