Two petrol bombs have been thrown at a police station in Belfast.
No one was injured in the attack on Willowfield station in the east of the city late last night.
The flames did not cause any damage to the property.
Assembly member for the area Robin Newton condemned the incident as "mindless".
"There is no cause or reason that justifies this attack," said the DUP MLA.
"It is a mindless action that could well have resulted in extremely serious outcomes.
"The person or persons responsible must be apprehended. Anyone who is prepared to put life at risk by throwing petrol bombs is a danger to the whole community and needs to be taken before the courts."
Police said the bombs were thrown at the station from the direction of Willowfield Drive at around 11.40pm.
They have appealed for witnesses or anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area to come forward.
