Two arrested for serious assault in Carrick-on-Shannon

Gardai have arrested two people in connection to a serious assault in Carrick-on-Shannon on July 17.

A male and female in their 20s were arrested and are currently detained at Leitrim garda station under the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A man in his 30s was seriously assaulted on the Main Street Carrick-on-Shannon at 4am on July 17.

Gardai found the male unresponsive on the road and he was taken to Sligo University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Gardai believe the man was in an altercation with a group of people on the footpath of the Main Street and have interviewed a number of witnesses and viewed CCTV footage of the area.

Investigations are ongoing.
