AN IRISHMAN killed in Germany after a stabbing spree which left three people in hospital had lived a tragic life, a priest told mourners at his funeral.
Enda McLaughlin (27) died when he was hit by a car near the German town of Aachen three weeks ago. He had suffered life-long mental health issues.
Mr McLaughlin (inset), from Glentogher, Co Donegal, was known to almost everyone in Carndonagh because of his previous crimes, yet more than 400 people turned out to pay their respects at yesterday's funeral at the Church of the Sacred Heart in the Inishowen town.
Parish priest Father Con McLaughlin said the McLaughlin family wished to remember the victims of the attack in Germany.
"We pray for Enda, his family and friends today, and the entire community here which is still in shock three weeks to the day after we heard such dreadful news from Germany," said the priest.
"And we also pray for those who were injured and who were left deeply traumatised by the events and for the community and people of Aachen."
