Three-legged calf becomes local celebrity
A calf born with a deformed leg in Mayo last week has become something of a celebrity - with plenty of fans queuing up to see him.
The Limousin calf was born with a front leg just a few inches long on Joe Moylette’s farm in Islandeady, Co Mayo on April 20.
When the calf was delivered by local vet Mary Keane, it was not known if he was going to live, according to the Mayo News.
By the evening, the calf was standing on all three legs, and he was happily hopping around by the time he was one week old.
"When she was born you could see one of the legs was deformed and she was not 100 per cent," famer Joe Moylette told the Mayo News.
"The leg is curled up like a bent elbow and she has only one crub when they should have two."
"We were not sure what would happen to her but she's fine now hopping around the place."
"She has caused a stir around the place since she was born with people calling to have a look at her."
"I think she is enjoying the attention," the farmer joked.
