Three men allegedly beaten by gang in broad daylight while stopped on hard shoulder of M7 motorway

Gardai are appealing for witnesses after three men were allegedly assaulted by a gang of four men on the hard shoulder of the M7 motorway in a broad daylight attack.

Three men, all in their twenties, who were travelling in 09D VW Golf car had stopped on the hard shoulder of the M7 motorway just south of Naas town at 12.10pm on Wednesday.

Four men who were travelling in a 151-D white VW Golf allegedly assaulted them and stole a small quantity of cigarettes.

The white car was parked on the hard shoulder of the motorway while the alleged assault took place.

The motorway was busy at the time and Gardai are seeking witnesses.

Gardai believe the white VW Golf travelled from the Tallaght area before the alleged robbery. The car then went on to  Tullow Co Carlow, where it was stopped by Gardaí and three men (all in their 20s) and a juvenile were arrested.

Three of the men were charged in relation to the incident and appeared in Naas District Court on the 21st April. The have been remanded on bail. File will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the juvenile.
