Three girls rescued after beach fog scare

THREE teenage girls were rescued from a popular beach, after they became "disorientated" when heavy fog descended.

They were walking along Dublin's Sandymount Strand and called the emergency services for help after their visibility was seriously impaired due to the weather.

Members of the Dun Laoghaire RNLI, Gardai and the Coastguard attended the scene shortly before 6.30pm yesterday.

The all-weather and inshore lifeboats were dispatched as the girls had become surrounded by water in the area.

The girls were brought to shore safe, but extremely cold.
