Three arrested in connection with shop theft after getaway car followed by gardai

Three youths have been arrested in connection with a burglary at a convenience store in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A 19-year-old man and two boys under the age of 18 were detained after the shop on Dublin Road in Kildare town was robbed at around 3.30am.

Three men took cash and cigarettes from the store - before fleeing the scene in a car.

Gardai, who were on patrol in the area, followed the car after a decription of the vehicle was circulated.

The car was stopped and searched on the Naas Road, Dublin, close to the Red Cow roundabout.

The three males were arrested and are currently detained at Naas Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

A quantity of cash and cigarettes have been recovered.
