Ten arrests and 11,000 cigarettes seized as part of major garda operation

Ten arrests were made as part of a major operation aimed at targeting criminals selling stolen goods at markets.
Detective units from Santry with the assistance of traffic units from Dublin Castle and DMR North helped set up and monitor a number of checkpoints on the M1 from early morning.
The checkpoints were in force between 2am and 12 noon today near Junction 6 and in the Balbriggan area as part of Operation Thor.
One man was arrested under the Finance Act concerning the sale of cigarettes of which 11,000 were seized.
Another man was taken into custody for a European arrest warrant.
Seven other drivers were arrested for drink driving.
There were also a number of Road Traffic Offences for which Fixed Charge Penalty Notices will be issued
