There's good news for sun-seekers as temperatures are set to reach up to 21C this weekend.

Don't forget to check the forecast though if you're planning to break out the barbecue, as rain, winds and fog are all promised.

Met Eireann Forecaster Matthew Martins told Independent.ie that we're set for a mixed bag weather-wise over the coming days.

Mr Martins said: "At the moment we have a pressure system over the country but that is going to decline today.

"Overnight there will be scattered showers.

"Tomorrow is set to be cloudy and humid, with some drizzle, it'll clear in the south-east of the country later in the day and become more sunny."

He added: "Saturday looks like it will be a mostly dry, fresh and sunny day, although there might be a few light showers.

"We can expect top temperatures of 17-21C, Leinster and the sunny south-east will enjoy the bets of the weather."
