A teenage pedestrian hit by a car in Lurgan is in hospital in a serious condition.

The teenager was struck by the car on Avenue Road, close to the junction of Demesne Avenue at around 11.30pm on Wednesday.

He was rushed to hospital where police said he was being closely monitored.

His injuries are thought to be very serious, a police spokesman said.

Inspector Ray Shaw added: "I would ask anyone who witnessed this incident to contact Lurgan Police Station on the non emergency number 101."
