Switching supplier easier than you think

SWITCHING energy supplier is easy and can be done over the phone.
Unless you tied into a one-year contract, there is nothing to stop you moving from your existing operator to one with a better deal
You just need your electricity or gas bill. You will need to quote your MPRN (meter point reference number) if switching electricity, which can be found on the bill. For gas switches you need to quote your GPRN (gas point reference number).
Also needed is your meter reading and your banking details for setting up your direct debit.
For those who want a better deal, but want to stay with their existing supplier, the best thing to do is to threaten to switch. All suppliers have retention deals. These won't be as good as new customer signings, but you can get a discount of 5pc on the standard tariff.
