A suspect device was found in north Dublin this afternoon.

Gardai were alerted following the discovery in Edenmore shopping centre in Dublin 5.

The army disposal squad were requested by gardai shortly before 3pm today.

The area was cordoned off and people were advised to avoid the area completely.

Local sources told that a tyre, with the message R.I.P painted on it, was left on the footpath at Edenmore Avenue.

The tyre was also said to contain nails and wires.
