Street brawl investigated as video of violent incident appears online

Police are investigating a street brawl that erupted in an Irish housing estate.

The violent brawl was filmed in the Bell Steel Road area of west Belfast.

Violence spilled onto the streets of Poleglass on Monday afternoon.

A video of the incident showed a crowd of people involved in a confrontation before violence erupted. One man is seen holding a hurley and is involved in a fight with another shirt-less man wearing shorts.

Two women were later arrested.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said: "Police investigating an incident on the Bell Steel Road on Monday January 16 arrested a woman aged 22 on suspicion of assault and threats to kill and a woman aged 38 on suspicion of assault.

"Both women were later released on police bail pending further enquiries which are ongoing. Officers would ask anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police in Woodbourne on 101 quoting reference number 536 16/01/17."
