Small craft boats in particular have been warned about going out to sea, as winds pick up to a speed of 55kmph.

Meanwhile, showers and cold temperatures are expected throughout today, spreading eastwards during the morning before becoming widespread in the afternoon.

Inland areas are due to get a battering of their own tonight, with a band of heavy rain due to arrive.

It was previously anticipated that the wet weather would arrive tomorrow, but the mass of rain has progressed quicker. Fortunately this means that it's more likely most of us will sleep through it.
